Foundations of Intergroup Relations
This
introductory course examines the history of various social identity groups
in the
United States
.
The primary emphasis is race and ethnicity, but attention is also given to
gender, religion, socio-economic class and sexual orientation. The course
examines theories explaining the formation of social identity groups and
the development of bias (prejudice, stereotyping, and discrimination), as
well as power and privilege dynamics and the development of ally-building.
Foundations of Intergroup Relations is offered during the winter term.
