Opportunities for Faculty & Staff
IGR
enthusiastically invites faculty and staff to join in our efforts
and to learn our techniques for their own use.
For faculty, there are opportunities to co-instruct upper-level
seminars, participate in both campus-wide and national conferences
on multicultural education, increase skills for effective multicultural
teaching, participate in a community of scholars dedicated to the
pursuit of social justice, and collaborate in research on the impact
of intergroup dialogue on students. Faculty interested in these
opportunities are encouraged to contact Dr. Patricia Gurin (pgurin@umich.edu)
or Dr. Mark Chesler (mchesler@umich.edu).
Staff interested in opportunities with IGR should contact Monita
Thompson (monitact@umich.edu) or Roger Fisher (rogerf@umich.edu).
Partnerships between IGR and other Student Affairs units are vital
to the Program. Reciprocally, colleagues in Student Affairs can
benefit from the many professional development opportunities provided
by IGR. Whether offered independently or through collaboration with
other units, these workshops and seminars develop multicultural
competence and aptitude by addressing intergroup relations on campus.
Staff members experienced in intergroup relations and social justice
education also have the opportunity to co-instruct upper level seminars.
These teaching opportunities provide a forum to further develop
skills in and understanding of intergroup relations and social justice
education.
